September 15th is National Thank a Police Officer Day.

Many people do their jobs in silence, not looking for anything in return. Our police enforcement are out there everyday protecting us and risking their own lives for us. This is the perfect opportunity to find a police officer and tell them thank you for all they do for your community.

Thank you from Bio-One. We appreciate all you do.

Bio-One is a company full of previous law enforcement, caretakers, military, and first responders. Our franchise owners are people who like to help their communities and make a difference in the world.

Our Bio-One Saint Louis franchise just became part of an organization that supports their local first responders and military families by promoting their business. This non-profit organization is called STL Hero Network. It provides a network of trusted resources for services and products, making it possible and easily accessible to support local business owners of those who help the Saint Louis community.

This is a great resource to look into to further connect your business with community around you. Join groups and organizations, talk to people, and get your business out there!

At Bio-One, we love supporting law enforcement. We continually thank them for serving our community and keeping us safe. We also work very directly with law enforcement and continue to build relationships all the time. The connections we build lead us to be successful and touch as many lives as we can.

Our Bio-One Colorado offices attended the Colorado Association of Chiefs of Police this summer. These offices include:

Bio-One Denver
Bio-One Fort Colins
Bio-One Colorado Springs
Bio-One Western Slope

Here is a prime example of what working together can do. While you might think offices in the same state are in competition, I encourage you to look at these types of situations as opportunities. The Bio-One Colorado offices not only attend events together, but they use each other as resources to help build each other up. That's how we do it at Bio-One.

If you find yourself looking at a crime scene, your initial reaction may be to clean it yourself. You may want it to be gone as soon as possible and that's completely understandable. Here's some reasons why you shouldn't do that.

1. Fluids! Coming into contact with bodily fluids, especially blood, can be harmful. It can carry disease and pathogens that you just don't want on or near your body!

2. Invisible to the eye! If you don't take care of all of it, you can still recieve harmful effects. This means if you try and clean it and leave behind any traces of the scene (even germs and pathogens you can't see), your home won't be as sanitary as you think it is. You know how they say won't you don't know won't hurt you? Well in this case, it can.

3. Don't stress! While you may be worried that you can't afford crime scene cleaners, your insurance will usually take care of it! Don't let this detail keep you from getting the professionals in the door!

Never try to clean a crime scene yourself! You'll be happier, more sanitary, and less stressed when you let the professionals come take care of it. View our Bio-One locations if you need help.

When you choose somewhere you to live, you don't just look at the house you want to buy. You look at the community, the people, the resoures, and systems in place. Our communities are the people we live around. They are the libraries, recreation centers, and schools. A community provides us with things to do, food for our families, and protection when we need it. There are a million ways to make a difference in your community and even more reasons why you should. Supporting each other is what keeps your community going.

Here's a small list of ways you can make a difference:

1. Volunteer at a local animal shelter

2. Leave the car at home and take a walk instead

3. Check in on your neighbors and be someone's reason to smile that day

4. Become a volunteer reader for children here

5. Donate your used items to a local charity

6. Take your pet to a local hospital to cheer people up with Pet Partners

7. Play your musical instrument at a coffee shop

8. Join the Nextdoor App and become connected with your neighboorhood from block parties to crime watch.

9. Help out parents and organize a carpool here

10. Join a nonprofit and make your mark on the world

Mental health is an important and crucial element to your well-being that sometimes gets overlooked. We are often taught how to take care of our bodies but what about our minds? This is what controls all of the functions in our bodies, tells us when to eat, when to sleep, and releases all the hormones that keep us happy, motivated, and operating in a healthy way.

If your body is able to get out of bed physically but your mind is causing you stress, anxiety, and lack of motivation, what health are you really in? Mental illness can be much more than what we normally consider big diagnoses such as ADHD or Bipolar. It can be as simple as social anxiety or as common as depression and hoarding. According to mentalhealthamerica.net, 1 in 5 adults have a mental health condition. The good news is the stigma associated with mental illness is decreasing and the resources surrouding it are increasing! If you or someone you kow would like to find some resources, check out:

April 28th Is National Pay It Forward Day

Paying it forward is that idea that when someone does someting nice for you, you turn around and do something nice for someone else. Maybe someone offered you the parking space they were waiting on or helped you carry some heavy groceries. Your goal is to now help someone else out in return.

Ideas To Pay It Forward

  • Pay for someone's coffee or food behind you in line
  • Donate to a local charity
  • Help someone you see struggling
  • Listen to someone who needs it
  • Do someone a favor
  • Compliment a stranger
  • Check up on someone who looks lonely
  • Take a veteran or law enforecement officer out to lunch

We have 7.8 billion people in the world, that's a lot of chances to spread some kindness and Pay It Forward!

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
